DIY With Flowers

Spring is in the air! We may not be privy to the changing of seasons in Malaysia, but it’s still fun to play around with flower-based DIY projects!

Make small bags of air fresheners with flower petals

Cut the flower heads from your garden, or from a bouquet. Lay them flat on a tray and let them air dry for a few days. Place into small sachets, add a few drops of your favourite essential oils, and hang around the house to let the smell permeate the space.

DIY flower candle décor

Find some neutral or floral scented candles to use, as well as your favourite flowers and petals. Light the candle to get some wax to melt. Then carefully dip the petals into the wax and immediately adhere to the outside of the candle to get a pretty and decorative result.

Make bath bombs

Instead of forking out hundreds for luxury bath bombs, make your own! All you need is baking soda, salt, corn-starch, citric acid, flower petals, coconut oil, essential oils, and moulds, and colouring if you so desire! Make sure it’s all organic stuff because your body deserves the best!

Make a homemade air freshener

Pound a scented flower to dust with a mortar and pestle, then bring to a boil in some water. Skim off the flowers, leave to cool, and use to fill a spray bottle. The resultant fragrance is absolutely perfect for pillows and bedding!

Dry them and frame them

Got a meaningful bouquet to preserve forever? Dry them and hang them up in a frame! All you need are some containers, desiccants like kitty litter or rice, and plenty of patience!
